Day 1 : Airport to Anuradhapura, ancient city & Mihinthale. The city of Anuradhapura is situated 220 kms away from Colombo in the north central province of Sri Lanka on Malwathu Oya. This city served as a capital of medieval Sri Lanka from 4th-11th Century for 130 rulers. Introduction of Budhism and its evolution occurred during this period. At its height, the city was home over 10,000 Buddhist bikkus with gigantic stupas ever built by man. Today this ancient capital of Sri Lanka has become sacred to the whole Buddhist world, with its surrounding monasteries covering an area of 40 sq kilometres and one of the UNESCO cultural heritages on the planet of earth.


Day 2 : Travel to ancient city of Polonnaruwa. Polonnaruwa ancient city, Elephant watching in Minneriya/Kaudulla (staying in sigiriya) Polonnaruwa is the second capital of Sri Lanka in the 11th and 12th centuries. You will visit the ruins of the Royal Palace, the Lankatilleke Vihare (3rd century AD) the Thuparama Dagoba and the Gal Vihare, three splendid statues of the Buddha in upright, sedant and recumbent postures carved out of a large rock.

Travel to Sigiriya & climb the rock fortress. Sigiriya Rock Fortress is located on a flat surface of a gigantic gneiss rock that towers dramatically. Its vertical walls rises up forming a kingdom of Kassapa where now only the ruins of an ancient civilization exist. In addition, in order to get there, if you are brave enough, you will have to climb a series of staircases that are attached to rock walls. Once you enter the fort, you will get to witness the ruins, frescoes and water gardens around the premises and the sight of the magnificent rolling hills and forest from the fort will simply baffle you.


Day 3 : Visit Dambulla cave temple. Travel to Kandy via Matale. Five separate caves contain about 150 absolutely stunning Buddha statues and paintings, some of Sri Lanka’s most important and evocative religious art. Buddha images were first created here over 2000 years ago, and over the centuries subsequent kings added to and embellished the cave art. From the caves there are superb views over the surrounding countryside


Day 4 : Visit places in Kandy : “Dalada Maligawa” & other places of interest. Kandy is one of the most popular places to visit that is wrapped by awe-inspiring vistas, tea plantations and spice gardens. The place is decorated with lush greenery and is blessed with a temperate climate making it a righteous abode to have a romantic holiday. Kandy is known for Temple of Tooth and EsalaPerahera, these two attractions are widely visited.
