Day 1 : Airport – Sigiriya rock (staying in Sigiriya)
Sigiriya Rock Fortress is located on a flat surface of a gigantic gneiss rock that towers dramatically. Its vertical walls rises up forming a kingdom of Kassapa where now only the ruins of an ancient civilization exist. In addition, in order to get there, if you are brave enough, you will have to climb a series of staircases that are attached to rock walls. Once you enter the fort, you will get to witness the ruins, frescoes and water gardens around the premises and the sight of the magnificent rolling hills and forest from the fort will simply baffle you.
Day 2 : Polonnaruwa ancient city, Elephant watching in Minneriya/Kaudulla (staying in sigiriya) Polonnaruwa is the second capital of Sri Lanka in the 11th and 12th centuries. You will visit the ruins of the Royal Palace, the Lankatilleke Vihare (3rd century AD) the Thuparama Dagoba and the Gal Vihare, three splendid statues of the Buddha in upright, sedant and recumbent postures carved out of a large rock. Other interesting sights are the Lotus Bath, Tivanke Image House with the best known Buddhist frescoes of Sri Lanka, and man-made Parakarama Samudra built by Parakarama Bahu the great.
Day 3 : Dambulla temple-Kandy tooth temple -evening cultural dancing show-Kandy(staying in Kandy) Five separate caves contain about 150 absolutely stunning Buddha statues and paintings, some of Sri Lanka’s most important and evocative religious art. Buddha images were first created here over 2000 years ago, and over the centuries subsequent kings added to and embellished the cave art. From the caves there are superb views over the surrounding countryside
Day 4 : Kandy – Nuwara Eliya, Ramboda Falls, Tea Factory, Nuwara Eliya city tour & overnight stay.
Kandy is one of the most popular places to visit that is wrapped by awe-inspiring vistas, tea plantations and spice gardens. The place is decorated with lush greenery and is blessed with a temperate climate making it a righteous abode to have a romantic holiday. Kandy is known for Temple of Tooth and EsalaPerahera, these two attractions are widely visited.
Day 5 : Hortain plains trekking, Ella train ride, Nine arches bridge. Staying in Ella. Ella is one of the most famous places in the tropical island Sri Lanka. It’s well-known for many reasons; but primly, the natural paradise around the location and tourist town there that becomes party central once dusk falls. The Ella town itself is surrounded by the beautiful hills of the Central highlands; covered in rolling green tea estates, the tall trees of cloud forests, and interesting natural formations. The town is a delight to be in as it maintains its originality and rural feel while still catering to the thousands of tourists that visit it during seasonal highs.
Day 6 : Hiking in Ella ( Staying in Ella )
Day 7 : Ella – Tissamaharama, bird watching. ( Staying in Tissamaharama )
Day 8 : Yala jungle safari, overnight in Mirissa. Yala National Park, one of Sri Lanka’s premier wildlife destinations. Encompassing a vast area of scrub jungle, brackish lagoons and spectacular rock monoliths, the park can boast one of the largest populations of leopards in the world, with many of the young males often seen walking along the trails during the day. There are also substantial numbers of elephants, as well as wild buffalo, pangolins and crocs and a rich diversity of birds that include lesser flamingos, paradise flycatchers and crested hawk eagles.
Day 9 : Whale watching, Galle fort, overnight in Bentota. Bentota offers water sports possibilities nowhere else to be found. Apart from swimming, body-surfing or diving in the sea, you can jet-ski, windsurf, parasail or enjoy a romantic river safari on the river and lagoon.
Day 10 : Madu river boat safari, turtle hatchery, water sports (optional). Staying in Bentota. Bentota, a tourist town on the southern coast of Lanka that entertains visitors with a elange ofactivities. Surfing, sailing and snorkelling are ever exciting sports but here also lies beaches where you can spend an evening watching the sunset.
Day 11 : Bentota – Aiport and end of tour.
